My Personal Experience of FlowPainting

I am an artist who loves to encourage others to tap into their intuitive creativity for healing.  In 2010, I worked with my friend Michelle Jacobs at Creativity Gym,  co-facilitating creative healing workshops.  During this time, I attended an intuitive painting workshop with Carolyn Winkler who was visiting Johannesburg from Portland, Oregan. This experience had an enormous impact on my life and my creativity. I used it daily for a year to heal my depression. I felt a deep calling to give others the opportunity to discover how unlocking their innate creativity can heal and change their lives. I drew on all my experience in mind-body work, expanded on what I had learnt from Carolyn and created this magical process I now call “FlowPainting.” (previously called SoulPainting)

“My experience is that Flowpainting is like watching the layers of my life, with all the interesting things my mind brings up, the judgments I make on my self, all the emotions I go through and all the polarities that I experience in the world every day being put into one safe place – without the words. My subconscious mind speaks through the medium of colour and shapes and movement, so that, without attaching to the outcome of a ‘pretty picture” or a great product to show, the result is a surprising artwork that feels like an extension of my being, and tells me a lot about myself that I may not have been aware of.  I love this process because it gives me a taste of what it is to be truly free from the judgment in my mind that is strong. It’s like dancing with paint and dancing through life all at once.” _ Brenda
